It is no secret that I’m fairly planner-obsessed. I blame Elle Fowler 100% for this- I have spent HOURS lost in the black hole that is her Plan With Me playlist, which then led to hours lost in the Etsy planner sticker world, which then led to me getting a Silhouette machine to make my own stickers… so on and so forth. Sitting down to do my planning for the upcoming week is a time I really look forward to on Sundays, not just to wrap my mind around what all I have to do but also to inject a little creativity into my day. Seeing as the 2017 Erin Condren Life Planner is out TODAY (!!!) I thought I would give you a little sneak peek into my own.
This total babe is my 2016 planner. I went with the foiled gold cover and the gold spiral, but there are so many options. One thing I really love about this design is that the cover is super easy to change out. Erin Condren often comes out with seasonal/holiday-themed covers that you could use around the appropriate time of year, but I’ve actually stuck with my original cover since I got it. Over the past year, it has accumulated its fair share of scratches, but I think it still looks good.
There is a full monthly spread at the beginning of each month, but to be honest I hardly ever look at this. What I usually do is plan out some blog and YouTube content and stick it on a post-it note, which I then refer to when I’m doing my weekly spread.
There are a few options for the interior layout including horizontal and hourly, but I’ve gone with the vertical layout. There’s a section on the far left that I use for more “big picture” things, like an overview of what I have happening that week and the next week. Along the bottom, I list out the dinners I have planned for the week. For my individual days, I have three sections: To Do, Today, and Bits and Bobs. I put the To Do section at the top, since it’s the first thing I look at. The Bits and Bobs section is usually where I put TV shows that air that night or content going live.
There is a section at the back of the planner with blank sheets. There are lined, graph, and plain sheets. I like to jot down video and blog content ideas here, so I can have some ideas handy when I’m planning out my uploads.
I don’t always have every part of my week planned out- no human does. Sometimes things get switched around, or meetings pop up. That’s why the clear pocket at the back of the planner is so handy. I keep blank boxes and other stickers back here so I can add things to my week as they happen.
There are also a few pages of stickers in the back. There are blank ones, birthday ones, party ones, doctor’s appointment ones, etc. I have to admit, though, that I don’t use these very often. They’re super handy, but I usually make my own stickers.
I use the Silhouette Portrait cutting machine and the included software to design and cut my stickers. I love the creativity this allows- I can make any spread I want (the POWER!), which is so fun.
I do have a few favorite sticker shops on Etsy, though, like OneOrangeSnowflake, ScribblePrintsCo, PlannerGems, SweetKawaiiDesign, and TheGeekyPlanner.
So there you have it! If you like this sort of peek inside my weeks, I occasionally do a Plan With Me video on my YouTube channel. And, if you’re interested in getting an Erin Condren Life Planner, you can use this link (my referral link) to sign up and get $10 off your first order!
Do you have a planner? What kind?
xoxo Katie
