Autumn Apartment Update

It finally happened. The temperature dropped below 65º F and it actually feels like fall! I wore a blanket scarf and boots today and didn’t feel like I was boiling! Now that the outside is reflecting the season, I thought the inside of my apartment should, too. I’m a firm believer in not decorating for Christmas until after Thanksgiving (#sorrynotsorry), so here are some of the touches I’ve added to my home for an autumn apartment update before I go all. out. for Christmas.

Orange candle on a shelf
Target orange and clove candle (similar)
Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin candle

I am all about some candles right now. They just instantly make your space so much cozier, and when you have ones that smell as good as these, your whole apartment smells amazing! I love the glass container of the Target candle, and you KNOW I’m all about some Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin.

Marble tray
Marble tray

One thing I picked up recently and can’t get enough of is this gorgeous gold and marble tray from Target. It’s real marble, and I fall in love with it all over again every time I look at it. If you love it as much as I do, it’s on sale RIGHT NOW at Target.com! You may recognize it from the background of my Fizzing Whizbees post… and my Instagram… and probably lots more photos to come.

Vase of pinecones and red leaves

Another really simple DIY decoration I threw together is this vase. I poured a small bag of little pinecones into a clear vase I had lying around and added some faux fall leaves that I picked up for like a dollar at Michaels. It took a total of three minutes to do, and I think it adds a very seasonal touch.

Katie on couch with coffee
Velvet throw pillow sham // White faux fur blanket

One thing I really wanted to dress up was my couch. My living room isn’t very big, so my couch is a focal point for the room. My throw pillows from Target are great, but they aren’t very… autumny. I don’t really have the storage room to buy a new throw pillow for every season, so I was thrilled to find these orange velvet pillow shams at Target for less than $10 each. I just threw them on over my normal pillows and voila! Autumnal! I’m so in love with this faux fur throw blanket from Bed Bath and Beyond, too. It is SO comfortable, and Luna loves it almost as much as I do.

Cosy socks
Corduroy leggings

Now all that’s left to do is put on my comfy clothes and curl up with a hot drink! I am a huuuuge fan of these Hue corduroy leggings (I may or may not have them in three colors), and I’m never too far away from some wool socks once it gets colder. Also, how cute is this shirt from Style Revel? It’s from aaages ago, but their t-shirts are all so comfortable.

Do you decorate your home for autumn?

I’m with you- I don’t decorate for Christmas until after Thanksgiving. Enjoyyyyy that fall before launching into full-fledged winter. And how cute is Luna? Omg, those ears!

Thank you! If only it would stay cool long enough for a fire in my fireplace now…
