Tiptoeing Through the Tulips- What I Packed for a Trip to the Biltmore

I’ve always loved touring old houses. I like to imagine what it was like to live there and just let my imagination go wild. I think about all the memories created in old  homes- marriage proposals, births, broken hearts, etc. And -confession time- sometimes I like to pretend I was the person who lived there. So when my mom suggested we take a mother-daughter trip up to Asheville, NC to visit the Biltmore, I was ecstatic! We planned our trip for peak tulip season, but it actually ended up being a lot colder than we were hoping for! I had to pack lots of layers, as well as comfortable shoes since we were planning on doing a lot of walking. Here are some of the things I packed:

Katie Actually - What I Packed for the Biltmore- Skincare

For skincare, I packed my go-to face wash: the St. Ives Apricot Scrub. This is such a holy grail product for me! My eye cream is the Origins GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream, which is such a great brightening product, and my daily moisturizer is the Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel.  I recently repurchased this product and went with the biggest size, since I knew I loved it! Super importantly, I brought my Neutrogena Clear Face sunscreen. I wear this under my moisturizer every day, which I knew would be super important during all our time wandering around Asheville. I also brought my nightly skincare routine, which you can read more about here!

Katie Actually - What I Packed for the Biltmore- GlamGlow

As an extra little treat, I brought along this adorable mini GlamGlow ThirstyMud masque. Mom and I used this on the second night of our trip after wandering around Asheville in the 23349234024 mile-per-hour wind. It is so luxurious and hydrating- perfect for a mother-daughter trip!

Katie Actually - What I Packed for the Biltmore- Makeup

For makeup, I pretty much just used my Urban Decay Naked x On the Run palette, which, sadly, was limited edition (sorrryyyyy). I feel like every time I use this palette, I look amazing. It’s magical, and I love that it’s almost everything I need in one container. I primed my face with my Too Faced Primed and Poreless primer and my eyes with my LORAC Behind the Scenes eye primer. For foundation, I used the Maybelline Matte + Poreless foundation with a Beauty Blender. This is a super affordable foundation at $5.99, and it wears so beautifully. I used my new Urban Decay Naked Skin concealer (which is so good, by the way), and set everything with my Rimmel Stay Matte powder in translucent.

Katie Actually - What I Packed for the Biltmore- Clothes

I focused on layers and comfort in my suitcase. Sweaters, scarves, and my ASOS trench coat definitely saved my life in the unexpected cold! I wore my (very Spring-y) Toms from forever ago and my Franco Sarto Glorius Flat sandals aka my favorite summer shoes. Did you catch them in my Favorite Summer Sandals post?

Katie Actually - What I Packed for the Biltmore- Me in the greenhouse

We had an amazing time in Asheville, and even though this isn’t a travel itinerary post, I thought I’d share a few snaps from our trip!
