Magical Mattes: A Review of the Bite Beauty Matte Creme Lip Crayon

Matte lipsticks can be hard to get right. I’ve tried some that make every line and dry patch on my lips stand out, some that have to be touched up every hour, and some that make my lips feel like the Sahara. So when I was sent the Bite Beauty Matte Creme Lip Crayons to review by Influencer, I was a little wary.

Bite Beauty Matte Lip Crayons

The Brand

Bite Beauty is a fairly new (5 years old) beauty brand carried exclusively by Sephora. All the products are hand-made in Toronto, and they sell lip-related products like lipsticks, lip glosses, lip scrubs, etc. I was sent three shades of their Matte Creme Lip Crayons: Glace, Cava, and Red Velvet.

The Product

The packaging has a fairly luxurious feel due to slightly rubberized finish on the dark gray tube. The lid pulls off and the product twists up. Fresh out of the box, the product has a nice point, but obviously that wears down with use! Lucky for us there is a little sharpener tucked into the base of the tube that you can pop out. So handy! There are 19 shades available at $24.00 each.

Red Velvet, Glace, and Cava crayons

The consistency of these lip crayons is super creamy, which leads to a not-100%-matte finish in the end. I would call it a natural matte finish. Once applied, these bad boys last for hours with minimal need to reapply!

The Colors

Magical Mattes: A Review of the Bite Beauty Matte Creme Lip Crayon

The first color is Glace, a dusty mauve. Interestingly enough, this is pretty much the color of my lips! I call this the “my lips but matte-r” color. I could definitely see myself wearing this during the day.

Next up is Cava, a lilac beige. I actually hated this color, if I’m honest. The consistency is just as good as the other colors, but this just didn’t work with my skin tone. Definite corpse lips.

Finally, I tried Red Velvet. This is a classic blue-toned red that I think would go well with any skin tone. This one was actually my favorite out of the three. I wore it in my latest YouTube video, in fact!

The Verdict

At the end of the day, I was impressed with these! They are super comfortable, which can be hard to achieve with a matte lip product. They are also highly pigmented and long-lasting. Red Velvet is my favorite, followed closely by Glace. I couldn’t see myself wearing Cava, but the quality of the product is still good and might work with a different skin tone!

Which color do you like the best?

Glace is SUCH a gorgeous colour and the fact it’s close to your natural lip colour explains why it suits you so much! I’m super keen to experiment more with matte lipsticks, there are some really gorgeous colours around 🙂

I love Bite- the formula is always amazing! I have trouble with lilac-tinted shades though, too- they always looks so cool other people, but not me. I’ll stick to true nudes + bright reds! 🙂

Haha I’m with you there! Some people can really pull them off, but I’m not one of them. Team reds and nudes!

You’ll love them! I’m more of a “satin finish” girl myself, but these have won me over!

The shade grace is right up my alley. I love pinkish purple shades as they look great with nearly every makeup look 🙂

What a shame! Hopefully once they get a little more established they’ll cross the pond. They’re really lovely lip products!
