Bunch’a Brights- My Top Summer Nail Polish Picks

I have to admit that I’m not the biggest fan of summer. There are things that I enjoy (beach weather, sundresses, barbecues, watermelon, etc.), but there are FAR more things that I dislike. Y’all. It’s HOT AS HELL here in Alabama during the summer. If you’ve never experienced high humidity, than I can’t expect you to understand, but there is nothing enjoyable about Alabama humidity. If I don’t dry my hair in the morning, there is a pretty good chance it will still be wet at dinner time. Makeup just sliiiiides off your face. If your shirt shows sweat, you’re screwed. For me, the best part about summer is the end of it. But, to keep things positive here on Katie Actually, let’s talk about something I enjoy about the summer- the nail polish trends. I love a good, summery, resort-y, nail polish. Even if you’re stuck in the office because people in the workforce don’t get summer breaks (not bitter…), you can bring a bit of a sunny resort to your fingertips with these five polishes.

1. Essie Lounge Lover

This coral, peachy pink is a polish that doesn’t look like Pepto Bismol, which is a win in my book! This light pink makes me want to buy a palm print romper and Insta the shiz out of that combo.

2. Essie Mint Candy Apple

This minty green polish is a cult classic and it’s pretty clear why it’s so popular. Yeah, it’s green, but it’s not too in-your-face green. It’s actually slightly blue-green. I could definitely see Arial from The Little Mermaid wear this, and that’s a big plus in my book.

3. Revlon ColorStay Gel Envy Up The Ante

Confession: Estee Lalonde mentioned her love for this polish and I definitely went out and bought it because of her. Isn’t that a great example of the power of bloggers? I love that you can get away with bolder colors in the summer, and this strong purple is a great choice. Plus, the long-wearing formula is great for those of us who are pretty tough on our hands.

4. Essie Pret-a-Surfer

This kind of blue is just the quintessential summer color in my eyes. It makes me think of the ocean- both laying out by it and sailing on it. I paired this one with a fun glitter topcoat for the Fourth of July and loved it!

5. Essie Sunshine State of Mind

This week, I’ve reached for Essie’s Sunshine State of Mind. This one is described on the Essie website as a “blazing coral tangelo.” I’m trying to think of something to add to that, but it’s actually perfect. I love that this one is bright without being neon. It really makes your tan pop and is SO summery.

After painting, I topped my polish off with the Orly Sec’n Dry topcoat, because ain’t nobody got time to sit around waiting for your polish to dry.

Now grab those sunnies and head out the door to enjoy (or tolerate) the summer weather, humidity and all! What are some of your favorite summer polishes?
