And the Award for Best Champagne Cocktail Goes To…

Happy Oscar week, everyone! Quick confession: I don’t ever actually watch the whole ceremony, but you better BELIEVE I’ll be tuned in for the red carpet and the moment that Leonardo Dicaprio wins his Oscar (#boutdamntime). Even though I can almost promise you I’ll be slouched in front of my tv in sweatpants and with no makeup on, I’m going to try to inject some glamor in my night by sipping on one of these delicious Red Carpet Sparkler champagne cocktails.

Win or lose, the Academy Awards are a celebration of film achievement, and what is the best drink for celebrations? You guessed it- champagne. To cut the dryness of the champagne (or in this case sparkling wine), I added ginger ale and just a little bourbon. Fun fact: Golden-Age-of-Hollywood-actress Tallulah Bankhead, who hails from my little town of Huntsville, Alabama, requested bourbon in her last words. To reflect the red from the red carpet, I added cranberry juice and just a touch of raspberry puree. Mix together, garnish, and serve in the most glamorous champagne flute you have!

Ingredients:

  • 2 ounces cranberry juice
  • 2 ounces ginger ale
  • 1 tsp raspberry puree
  • .5 ounce bourbon
  • 2 ounces champagne or sparkling wine

Directions

  1. Mix together the first four ingredients and top with champagne.
  2. Gently stir, garnish, and serve.
  3. Cheer really loudly when Leo wins

This looks so delicious! I’ve never quite sat through the entire ceremony either; I came close the year Seth MacFarlane hosted I think. Thanks for the recipe!

Thanks Alanna! And no, not at all! They tend to sneak up on me usually, but I put this one in my planner this year!

Confession time – I got a sneak taste of these when I stopped by the other day. Just FYI – they’re as yummy as they look!
