I think I say this every month, but this month’s Birchbox (July 2015) killed it. I’ve been testing out a few of the samples, and today I’d like to share my opinions on the dr. brandt Microdermabrasion Skin Exfoliant.
If you haven’t heard of Birchbox, it’s a monthly beauty subscription service that sends you 4-5 samples a month for $10.00. If you’re interested in joining, click here!
The dr. brandt Microdermabrasion Skin Exfoliant is not only the first product from the brand I’ve tried, but also the first “microdermabrasion” product I’ve tried. I didn’t really know what to expect, so I went in with a totally open mind. At $78.00 for 2oz, I was sort of hoping it would turn my skin into gold, but alas… it did not.
The instructions for this product say to apply in circular motions to damp skin and then rinse. The exfoliating beads are super fine, so it didn’t feel like I was crushing sand into my skin. I was also pleasantly surprised by the fruity smell. I guess since the label warned not to use the product more than three times a week, I was expecting a harsher, more chemically and intimidating smell. Also surprising was the slight tingly sensation that began right before I rinsed it off my face. Again, wasn’t expecting that. I like things that tingle- they help me imagine that they’re doing some sort of work up there!
As for results, I will say that my skin felt very smooth and soft, and seemed to me to appear just a tad brighter, but I think I would have to use the product for longer to really see if it has made a huge difference. Overall, I was pleased with this product and can’t wait to try it again, but the price is a little out of my range.

Have you tried this product? What did you think? What was your favorite Birchbox item this month?

Mary Kay and Kiehls also have great microderm abrasion products that are a little more affordable. I am sure there are others but I’ve only had experience with the two I mentioned. Thanks for sharing your review with BirchBox though. I did the three month trial period with them.
