Drink Your Garden- 3 Spring Cocktail Recipes Using What You’ve Grown!

Y’all, it’s hot out, you’ve been working hard in the garden, and you deserve to put your feet up and relax a bit. When I’ve reached that point of my day, I definitely don’t want to go to the grocery store just to get my drink on. These three spring cocktails are the perfect way to unwind after a day full of soil and weeds, AND you get to literally reap what you’ve sown by finding a lot of the ingredients in your garden!

Cucumber Rose Gin and Tonic

Cucumber Rose Gin and Tonic

This dainty little cocktail retains the freshness of a normal gin and tonic but sweetens it up a little with the addition of rose simple syrup.

  1. Muddle four quartered slices of cucumber and 2 tablespoons of rose simple syrup (check out how to make it here) in the bottom of a cocktail shaker.
  2. Add 2 ounces of gin and shake.
  3. Pour into a highball glass over ice and top with tonic water.
  4. Garnish with a slice of cucumber.

Strawberry Basil Mojito

Strawberry Basil Mojito

If you’re one of the talented folks who can grow strawberries, what better use for them than in this delicious mojito recipe? Or, if you are like me and can only keep herbs alive, pride yourself with knowing that you’ve used your own basil!

  1. Muddle two sliced strawberries and three basil leaves in the bottom of a cocktail shaker.
  2. Add one ounce of lime juice, one ounce of simple syrup, and two ounces of light rum and shake.
  3. Pour over ice, top with Sprite (or club soda), and garnish with a strawberry slice and basil leaf.

Bloody (rose)Mary

Bloody RoseMary

If you try both of the above recipes and decide you like them enough to have (two…or three), then the next day you may need this spicy Bloody (Rose)Mary recipe.

  1. Add 1 cup of Zing Zang bloody mary mix, one sprig of rosemary, one ounce of lime juice, and two ounces of vodka to a cocktail shaker and shake.
  2. Pour into a glass and garnish with olive and another sprig of rosemary.

Very nice and looks refreshing. If only I drank. 😉 Have any alcohol-free ideas?

Ooh that’s something I’ll look into! I know a lot of times you can substitute seltzer water for the alcohol, but I’m not sure how that would work with these recipes- I’ll give them a try!
