Drugstore Beauty Haul: CVS

Did you know that CVS stands for Convenience, Value, Service? Well, now you do! CVS is one of my favorite places to shop for beauty supplies because of those three reasons. There’s a store near me, their coupon program is awesome, and the employees are always super helpful, at least at my location. I have to admit, though, that sometimes CVS can be a black hole. I go in there for deodorant and leave with three hair products, a new nail polish, a lipgloss, and an “As Seen on TV” product. That’s exactly what happened last time I stopped in, so I thought I’d share what I picked up on my CVS beauty haul!

Drugstore Beauty Haul: CVS

Revlon Kiss Balm in Crisp Apple: $4.99

Around this time of year, I can’t get enough hydration. I poo-poo lipsticks for ultra moisturizing balms, and that’s why the Revlon Kiss Balm caught my eye. It’s a hydrating balm with natural fruit oils and SPF20. The packaging is a fairly simple plastic tube with a lid and a twist up top. The tip is blunt and broad, but that’s not really an issue since you don’t need super precise application with this. I’ve used this a few times since I bought it and so far, I’m a fan! It’s fairly sheer, but delivers a noticeable amount of color. It’s incredibly comfortable to wear, and lasts about as long as a good chapstick. The scent is veeery fruity, which I don’t mind.

NYX Baked Blush in Foreplay: $6.99

Drugstore Beauty Haul: CVS | Katie Actually

Ok, what’s the deal with makeup having really provocative names? Between this NYX Baked Blush, the NARS Orgasm blush, and the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara, my makeup drawer is quickly becoming X rated… Anyway, I picked this up because I am such a big fan of the Milani Baked Blushes, and my CVS stopped carrying Milani (sob). This is a blush + illuminator product that says it could also be used as a bronzer, but I never would. It’s a shimmery, subtle, pretty pink color that I think is really flattering so far! It’s not suuuper pigmented, but at its price point, I can understand.

L’Oreal Voluminous Feline mascara: $8.99

Drugstore Beauty Haul: CVS | Katie Actually

It’s been a while since I bought a new drugstore mascara, so I basically just grabbed one of the ones on the “new in” shelf. This L’Oreal Voluminous Feline mascara promises instant volume and full lash density. The brush is a small cylindrical plastic brush with short bristles. So far, I’m a fan! I’ve only used it twice, but I haven’t had any fallout, and my lashes look fuller, but natural.

Batiste Dry Shampoo in Fresh: $8.79

Drugstore Beauty Haul: CVS | Katie Actually

This is a repurchase that I have made again and again. I love the Batiste Dry Shampoo! My hair is very fine and gets greasy really easily, so I use this as a sort of preemptive strike right after styling it to ensure it lasts through the whole day and into the night. I’ll also sometimes use this at night before a no-wash day to make my hair a little more acceptably greasy the next day. There are a couple of different scents of this dry shampoo, but the “Fresh” one is my favorite. It’s very light and maybe just a little sweet.

got2b Volumaniac Bodifying Mousse: $6.99

Again, another product I picked up because I was out of something and this was new. I need every kind of volumizing product I can get my hands on, so I thought I’d try this got2b Volumaniac Bodifying Mousse. It offers “crazy boost” and “dramatic hold,” and it delivers. Holy volume, Batman! I’ve only tried this once, but I was SUPER impressed with the result! I’ll keep using it and let you know how I get on!

Seche Vite Base Coat ($7.49) and Dry Fast Top Coat ($10.49)

Drugstore Beauty Haul: CVS | Katie Actually

The Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat was the original reason I went to CVS in the first place, so I’m glad I at least remembered to get it. This was another repurchase, as this top coat is definitely a holy grail product for me. I sent my top and base coat home with my sister after Christmas, so I was in need of another set. I hadn’t actually tried the Seche Vite Base Coat before, but so far so good! It’s fast-drying and seems to make a difference in how long my polish lasts.

Tree Hut Shea Sugar Scrub in Coconut Lime: $4.99

Drugstore Beauty Haul: CVS | Katie Actually

My favorite sugar scrub is the version of this product in the Almond and Honey scent, but I thought I’d branch out and try a new scent this time. New year, new me, amirite? I should mention that this product was in a new section of my local CVS that I can’t decide how I feel about. They’ve added the dreaded sample size checkout display à la Sephora and Ulta. This Tree Hut Shea Sugar Scrub is not the full size, but a cuter 5.5 ounce pot. I like the scent – it’s very fresh – but I have to admit that I like the Almond and Honey just a little bit better. A word to the wise- this is not a scrub for the sensitive. The sugar is coarse and really gets in there!

What drugstore products have you picked up recently?
