Easy Paper Bunting

Hey everyone! This post is part of my garden tea party series, so make sure you click the link at the end to see more great tea party ideas!

As you can probably tell from my website header, I love bunting. It just makes me think of summer parties and tea time, so of course I had to make some for this series! As an added bonus, this whole string of bunting cost me ONE DOLLAR. Yes, you read that correctly.

The Supplies:

Garden Tea Party- Supplies for Paper BuntingYou’ll need:

  • A few pieces of scrapbook paper (I got mine at Michaels for $1.00 total!)
  • Tape
  • A ruler
  • Scissors
  • String (I used twine)

The white foamboard is just there because I was making this on the floor as I watched Orange is the New Black. If you are a better adult than me and have something more appropriate (like, oh I don’t know, a table), you can of course use that.

Step One:

Using your ruler, make a little mark at the 4″ and the 8″ locations. Then, draw a horizontal line in the middle of the paper.

Step Two:

Garden Tea Party- Diagonal Lines on Paper BuntingDraw a line from the corner of the top to the 4″ mark on the bottom, and the 4″ mark on the top to the 8″ mark on the bottom, so on and so forth, until you have some diamonds.

Step Three:

Now just cut them out! You can discard the little dinky ones on the end.

Step Four:

Garden Tea Party- Taping Side of Paper BuntingUse your tape to affix them together. The ones that are diamond-shaped you can just fold into a triangle, but the others you’ll have to line up. I found that I used a piece on each side, one rolled at the tip, one piece at the top of the ones that weren’t folded.

Step Five:

Garden Tea Party- Stringing BuntingPunch holes in the top corners (I used my scissors) and thread your string through the holes. I alternated my colors evenly, but just do whatever you think looks the best! Tie a hole in the string at the last flag to make sure things don’t move around too much.

And you’re finished! Quick, easy, and perfect for your outdoor tea party!Garden Tea Party- Finished Bunting
