Fitness Rundown #1

I have to admit something. I’m definitely one of those people who abandons their New Year’s resolutions before they’re resolved. I, like everyone else, start out with the best of intentions, only to let my lack of self-control get the better of me. As you may have have seen in this post, one of my resolutions this year is to work on my fitness, and I’m proud to say that I’ve been sticking with it so far! As a way to kind of keep me accountable, I thought I would start a little series highlighting my progress and some things I’ve found help make exercising bearable.

The Method

I’ve been aiming for doing 2-3 cardio sessions and one strength session per week, ranging from 30 minutes to an hour. For cardio, I’ve mostly been using the elliptical and adding in about a mile run every now and then. My strength sessions have been sort of a hodgepodge of things I’ve seen on Pinterest, moves I’ve seen in Women’s Health Magazine, and stuff I’ve seen other people do in the gym. I think moving forward, I’d really like to refine my strength sessions and run more!

The Inspiration

I was having an Instagram conversation with one of my girlfriends the other day about cute workout clothes. It seems really silly and shallow, but throwing on some snazzy leggings and a colorful top really does motivate me to work out! My two favorite pairs of leggings right now are this pair of grey ombre leggings and this pair of purple leggings from C9 Champion at Target. You might have to try on two sizes to find the perfect one, but otherwise these are great!

The Recovery

This isn’t something new for me, but I absolutely LOVE flavored sparking water. I’ve been drinking the Deer Park sparkling water and I’m hooked. I get a big pack of them at Costco that has four flavors: lemon, black cherry, berry lime, and mandarin orange . I love them all, but I think my favorite is the berry lime. Sometimes at home I’ll want something to drink but don’t want just plain water, these bubbly beauties hit the spot.

The Results

So far, I’ve lost a total of seven pounds since I’ve started this journey. That puts me right on track of losing about a pound a week. I’ve also found that my endurance has gone up just a little bit, but I still have a long way to go. I’ve been tracking my calories on the MyFitnessPal app (which is AMAZING), and if any of you are using the app, connect with me and we can encourage each other! My username is katiemw11.

How are your resolutions going?

xoxo Katie

Sounds to me like you’re doing GREAT with your goal! That’s awesome! I’m trying to get to the gym more too but it’s a struggle!

Thank you Susannah! It’s such a struggle, ugh! I’ve heard that the first few pounds come off fairly quickly because they’re water weight, so I’m expecting a plateau any time now. But we can do it!!!

You’re doing such a great job staying dedicated to getting healthier in the new year! I’ve also felt that documenting my work outs have helped me to stay on track and accountable. Congrats on the weight loss, and hopefully we’ll both stay on the healthy track!
