Is it a Dupe? Reviewing the Fizz and Bubble Bath Truffles at Ulta

The other day, I was perusing the aisles of Ulta and spotted something that literally made my jaw drop- bath bombs! I love a good bath bomb, but it seems like the only place to get them is Lush. Don’t get me wrong- I’m a big fan of Lush, but the closest one to me is a two-hour drive away, and shipping charges are a pain in the butt. I would be so excited if my local Ulta carried a dupe for Lush bath bombs, so I quickly put the Fizz & Bubble 9-pack of Bath Truffles into my basket and headed for the checkout counter.

This pack includes nine adorable, colorful mini bath bombs and costs $20.00. They contain an 8-oil blend, as well as a healthy dose of shea butter. They are paraben-free, eco friendly, and not tested on animals. The scents included are: lemon, rainbow sherbet, coconut, birthday cake, buttercream, raspberry, lavender fields, Hawaiian lei and cucumber melon.

My first impressions of the bath bombs were positive. The scents were strong enough to be noticeable (although I couldn’t really distinguish between them all in the box) and they are so cute! I was a little dubious that they would perform like the Lush bath bombs since they are about a third of the size, but I didn’t want to write them off just yet.

I ran a bath and decided to try the cucumber melon bath bomb. The Fizz & Bubble website mentions that these both fizz and foam, so I was excited to see what it would do. I dropped it in and… a medium amount of fizz. No foaming to be seen. Bubbles did appear, but no where near the level of a Lush bath bomb. Eventually the bomb dissolved, leaving just the cap of green sprinkles.

The scent was present, but definitely not nearly as strong as I was hoping. And the water barely changed colors. Below is a non-retouched photo of the color of the water compared to my 80s beige tub side. As you can see, not that much of a green color there.

The oils and the shea butter in the bombs was really nice, however, and my skin felt soft after I got out of the tub.  I actually took a second bath, this time using two bath bombs at the same time. It wasn’t much different, if I’m honest. Overall, I think I’ll give these three out of five stars. The fizz, color, and scent were all present, but could be amped up a lot to make me get excited about them.

There are larger bath bombs available at Ulta made by the same company, and I think those might be closer to what I was expecting. Let me know if you are interested in a review of the larger Fizz & Bubble bath bombs, and I will happily oblige!

Have you tried these or any other non-Lush bath bombs?

xoxo Katie

They’re so small! Nice that other companies are coming out with ideas though to create something similar to the all popular lush products 🙂
