Happy Thoughts

Happy Thoughts | Katie Actually

Happy International Day of Happiness, everyone! I have so much to be grateful for, and sometimes I forget to take the time to appreciate that. So I thought I would start a little recurring series here on Katie Actually where I list a few things that have been making me happy recently.

1. I caved

I broke down and made Luna an Instagram account. I know, I know- another dog insta account is exactly what IG needs right now. But come on, she’s so cute! Plus, she can be pretty photogenic when she tries! If you feel like getting an extra dose of bat ears and lots of licks, go give her a follow! @ItsLunaBell

2. Collateral

I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned this or not (jokes), but I’m a huge true crime/crime drama fan. I’ve inhaled almost every crime show that exists, so I get super excited when a new one comes out. I’ve been watching the show Collateral on Netflix recently and it’s SO good so far. It stars Carey Mulligan, who I adore, and Billie Piper, who I love. Throw in some alumni of The Crown and Call the Midwife, and you’ve got a cast that knocks it out of the park. So far, so good!

3. Baking

I’ve really gotten to play around with baking more recently, and I’m loving it! I made a gorgeous pink ombre rosette cake around Valentine’s Day that I was really pleased with, and then a lemon cake with a fruity pebbles decoration for my sister’s birthday. I’ve started a highlights reel on my insta about baking, so head over there if you want to see how they turned out! Next up is strawberry cupcakes and then my signature lemon bars.

4. Drag Queens

Speaking of my sister’s birthday, we went with her to Perry’s Drag Brunch in Adams Morgan to celebrate. If you’re in the D.C. area, I recommend it! The drag queens were SO gorgeous, and really funny. There was one that did a lot of Lady Gaga songs who took a photo with us and two things: 1) she smelled AMAZING and 2) that photo made me feel like a troll. She was gorgeous! Key takeaway: I need to ask a drag queen how to do my makeup/hair/contour my boobs.

5. Bucket List

I get to cross something off of my bucket list this month- attend an Indian wedding! My wonderful and dear friend Niki is marrying her prince charming in our hometown at the end of the month, and I’m SO excited to go help her celebrate. The girls from the Vegas trip I took earlier in February will all be there, so I’m looking forward to seeing them again. I can’t wait for the food, the music, the celebrations, and most of all, to see Niki absolutely stunning and glowingly happy, which I know she will be.

What’s something going on in your life that’s making you happy?
