Quite a few months ago, my friend Mary Lee mentioned somewhere on social media that she was going to attend a networking event at the Space and Rocket Center put together by Rocket City Bloggers. I had been toying with the idea of starting a blog, so I suppressed my feelings of social awkwardness and decided to tag along, and I’m so glad I did. Not only did the event inspire me to take the plunge and start my blog, but it also had a guest speaker from the Huntsville Madison County Convention and Visitor’s Bureau who announced that the CVB would be looking for guest bloggers for a special project. Even though I had literally no experience with blogging, and my YouTube channel was only a few months old, I thought I would apply anyway.
A few months later, I heard back from the CVB and they said they wanted to have me on as a guest blogger for their new website IHeartHSV.com. Shocked is not even the right word to describe my surprise. I was thrilled! They wanted me to put together a short vlog on some of my favorite things to do in Huntsville, and I immediately started planning.
When the day came to film, I dragged The Fella along with me up to Monte Sano State Park in the morning for a hike. It had actually snowed the night before (!!!) so the backdrop to the first bit of the vlog is super serene and beautiful. It also just happened to be the Mountain Mist 50 (!) K that day, so we had to keep dodging runners on the trail. The Fella and I could barely navigate the icy trail at a walking pace, so we have no idea how these runners didn’t bust every five seconds.
I don’t want to give away the rest of the vlog, so I’ll link it here. You should definitely go check out the website; the content is so informative, for locals and non-locals alike!
