It’s been a minute since I’ve bought a new eyeshadow, so I was pleasantly surprised when I opened my Influenster box a few weeks ago and found a few products from recently re-launched cosmetics brand Il Makiage. I received the Rave Super Sheer Lip Color in Tazmania and the Color Boss Mono Eyeshadow Single in Entourage, so let’s talk about it!
The Brand
Il Makiage was originally founded in 1972 and relaunched in 2013. Going against the minimalist trend of recent makeup brands, Il Makiage wants consumers to embrace their maximalism. The line has almost every type of makeup product you can imagine, including 50 shades of foundation (😱), and is priced around the Urban Decay/Tarte/Too Faced range.
The Products
First up is the Rave Super Sheer Lip Color in Tazmania. This jumbo lip crayon is moisturizing and very comfortable, and the color is a mauve sheer purple. It’s a little more purple than I would have chosen for myself, but it is easy to wear and apply. Instead of having to sharpen it, you can twist it up from the bottom. I’m sure that as I use it more, the point will blunt out and it won’t be as precise, but so far it’s good. This product retails at $22.
I was also sent the Color Boss Mono Eyeshadow Single in Entourage. First of all the packaging on this is so nice! It’s a heavy silver metal and just feels substantial. The product itself is like a cream to powder and is incredibly easy to apply and blend. The color is a deep bronze with a metallic finish, which sounds a bit extreme, but is very easy to wear during the day. I love this eyeshadow so far! It retails at $24.
