The 3 Easiest Ways to Inject Color Into Your Monochrome Wardrobe

The 3 Easiest Ways to Inject Color Into Your Monochrome Wardrobe | Katie Actually

I am the first person to admit that I wear too much black. It’s like my safety blanket- it goes with everything, it’s super flattering, and it’s classically timeless! Plus, I have a black dog, and her fur doesn’t show up on dark clothes. But it’s refreshing to break out of the monochrome every now and then! Here are the three easiest ways to inject some color into your monochrome wardrobe!

1. Paint Your Nails

One super easy way to add some color is to paint your nails. If you’re fairly forgetful, you won’t ever have to worry about leaving your nails at home! Plus, there are thousands of colors out there, so you’re sure to find one that works for you. I have been totally in love with the Essie Gel Couture polishes recently, and this Rock the Runway bright red is super easy way to break up the monotony of your ensemble. As you can see, I get pretty pumped about a bright nail polish that lasts!

2. Add a Bold Lip

A “boom” lip color can make an outfit. If you’re running low on time, swipe on some lipstick for an instantly pulled-together look. Having a bad day? As Coco Chanel said, “Add some more lipstick and attack.” This drugstore option from Rimmel Kate Moss in the color Red (super original, ha!) is so moisturizing that you’ll hardly notice wearing it. Plus, red is such a classic color, especially around this time of year!

3. Throw on a Scarf

I could go on and on about layers and how amazing they are, but I already have so I’ll spare you. Basically, scarves are amazing, especially big, warm ones. If I’m being 100% truthful, when I was taking these photos, it was too warm for a jacket but too cold for just the tank top I had on under my jacket. As soon as I was finished snapping photos, I took off the jacket but kept the scarf! I love how snuggly this one is, and the big pop of red makes it almost easy to forget that nearly everything else I have on is black. I actually picked this red tartan one up at Old Navy last year, but here are some similar choices: 1 // 2 // 3

I totally feel you! I definitely don’t rock a bright lip every day, so scarves are so great. Plus, they’re an added layer of warmth if you need one!

I always wear bright accessories to brighten up my monochrome clothes, and of course I wear bright nails! Love your scarf, so beautiful! x
