I tend to go a little overboard around Halloween. One year while I was living with my parents, I made the porch so scary that the younger kids didn’t want to come ring the doorbell! So when I saw my roommate haul a big tub of decorations out, I knew we were in trouble. Between the two of us, our house was going to be the most extra on the block for sure.
We managed to temper ourselves however, especially since our neighbors have three young kids. We didn’t want to scare them in their own yard! On our porch, we have a few pumpkins, a fake rat, and some cobwebs.
I recently had a friend from England come stay, and she and I got to carve some pumpkins we picked out at the patch- so American! Hers is obviously the ghost- the better of the two.
One of my favorite things is this suction cup gigantic cockroach. SUCH a creepy lil guy, I love him.
The inside of the house is a bit tamer. We’ve got a skull bunting, some spooky potions on the bar cart, and a very seasonal coffee table display.
I feel adequately decorated for the season, and I’m glad our neighbor kids will still want to wave goodbye to us in the morning and not cower inside due to our decorations.
