There are pros and cons to the fact that my favorite beauty bloggers are based in the U.K. Pros: great accents, charming flats, and the ability to live vicariously through them. Cons: many of the products they mention are hard to get ahold of in the U.S. or come out waaaay before we see them. I’m sure it works both ways, but still. Back in January of 2017, the U.K. beauty blogosphere was buzzing about one of the most highly anticipated skincare collaborations to date: the Pixi x Caroline Hirons Double Cleanse.
Caroline Hirons is one of the most well-known beauty bloggers in the U.K., and she has earned her chops. She’s a certified aesthetician with over 30 years experience in the industry and has become a trusted source of advice for anyone seeking skincare help. Her recommendations clear both drugstore and high-end shelves, and her facials at the Teresa Tarmey spa in London sell out quicker than you can say “Retinoid.” Needless to say, I had high expectations for this product.
And it did not disappoint. I’m going to cut right to the chase- I love this product. So much.
The Product
You get a two-for-one when you purchase this product- both a solid cleansing oil and a separate cleansing cream. The luxurious oil just melts off your makeup, even stubborn mascara, and gets rid of any gross stuff that may have come in contact with your face during the course of the day (oh hi metro air). Next up is the cream cleanser. Caroline says that this two-step process is what she does in her treatments. The first cleanse is to get rid of anything on the surface, and the second is to really nourish the skin itself. The cream cleanser leaves my face feeling supple and very well-loved.
The Use
I have been using this at night and removing the products with a muslin cloth. I can see this lasting me quite a while, as the smallest amount goes a loooong way. My face seriously feels SO clean after I use this product, but still incredibly soft and moisturized without any weird residue.
The products are very easy to use, which is great for lazy girls like me. It’s also unscented, which I don’t mind at all. It’s such a shame when a product works well but then is ruined by a strong smell, so I won’t have to think twice about recommending this to my sensitive-skinned gal pals.
The Nitty Gritty
The tub has a screw-off top and is split into two sides with the products completely separate from each other. It is $24 at Target or on the Pixi website and I would RUN, not walk, to go get you some. The only negative thing I can think to say is that I’m fairly certain I’ll run out of the cream cleanser before the solid oil. I’m trying to use about the same amount of both, but we’ll see!
What’s your go-to skincare product of the moment?
Sounds really interesting. I’d definitely love to try this one. Thanks for sharing dear!
