A few weeks ago, I wrote a blog post about my bucket list. Looking at all the things I had left to do, I got a little discouraged. So this week, I thought I would focus on the things that I have done in a sort of reverse bucket list. I have been blessed enough to have some pretty amazing experiences, and I’ll highlight some of them in this post!
Graduated from College
I am a proud graduate of Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. While at Vandy, I got to know the amazing city of Nashville, met some of the best humans on the planet, and got a fantastic education. I learned a lot about myself in college, and I’m proud to say I’m an alumna of the class of 2011! Go Dores!
Graduated from Graduate School
After college, I went on to attend Durham University in Durham, England. I love England, and I look back on my time at Durham as one of the best years of my life. Again, I met some of the world’s greatest people and learned a lot about myself. Can I go back please?
Went Cycling Through Ireland
I won’t say much about this because I’ve talked about it on my blog here and here, but I had amazing trip cycling through southwestern Ireland with my dad.
Went Bungee Jumping in New Zealand
I spent an amazing year of my college experience living in Christchurch, New Zealand. I could go on and on about the cool things there are to do in New Zealand, but I’ll focus on bungee jumping. I went with two of my girlfriends on a road trip on the North Island, and two of us went bungee jumping at Lake Taupo. I was so scared, but it was incredible. I should also mention that I went skydiving, but I don’t have any photos of that because they were insanely expensive.
Saw a Play at the Globe Theater
This was actually one I had written down on my bucket list and got to cross off! I’ve wanted to see a play at the Globe (Shakespeare’s theater) since I was a little kid, and a few springs ago, my friend Samantha and I saw Titus Andronicus. It. was. AMAZING. In that first photo, the people in the background are cleaning fake blood off the stage at the intermission. SO COOL.
Surfed in Costa Rica
Can we talk about how amazing this photo is? You can barely see the surfboard, but I promise it’s there. Also, I have to mention that that bathing suit is SO early 2000s. It has cherries on it.
Visited Platform 9 3/4
This is at Kings Cross Station in London, and I was geeking out so hard. Potterheads for life!
Fed a Giraffe!
My mom surprised me one day with a trip down to the Birmingham Zoo to feed a giraffe! I love giraffes, so this was a big day for me. Like, nearly on the verge of tears big.
Saw Machu Picchu
Peru has a special place in my heart, since it’s where my grandparents met and fell in love. I’ve been once with my family, and then once after college for some archaeological work. This photo is from my second trip. Also, as a side note, my friends and I climbed that massive mountain in the background (Huayna Picchu) and got some amazing photos from above!
Saw the Eiffel Tower
Before grad school, my mom and I took a trip to France and had an amazing mother-daughter trip. We saw so many cool things and ate so much good food, but nothing is more iconic than the Eiffel Tower!
What are some things on your reverse bucket list?
xoxo Katie
I love your reverse bucket list – it’s such a cool idea! My list is not near as impressive as yours, but that’s okay. I can still work on filling up the pages of my life’s story. Thanks for the inspiration.
