Reverse, Reverse! – Review of the Tresemme Beauty-Full Shampoo and Conitioner

I don’t know why I had never considered reverse washing before. Reverse washing, or using conditioner before shampoo, is a revolutionary new way to add volume to your hair. Think of it this way- by using shampoo last, you’re washing away residue that might be weighing down your locks. It makes so much sense! I recently tried the Tresemme Beauty-Full shampoo and conditioner, a reverse shampooing duo, and have just a few thoughts to share.

How it works:

After wetting my hair in the shower, I put about 2-3 pumps of the conditioner in my hand and work it throughout my hair, focusing on the middle and ends. It has things like Fleximax Volumizers and Fiber Polishing Actives, which I honestly don’t care about because what even are they, but the important this is that the conditioner softens your hair but doesn’t weigh it down. After rinsing off the conditioner, I follow up with the shampoo, which washes away any leftover product or oils that might keep my hair from living up to its full volume potential.

The Pros

  • It is so affordable! I got mine at Target for a total of $10.00, which is such a steal considering how much you get. The bottles are huge (16 fl.oz. conditioner and 25 fl.oz. shampoo)!
  • It smells amazing.
  • Most importantly- IT WORKS. My hair’s lack of volume is something that I definitely struggle with, and I’m always on the lookout for volumizing products that actually work. I have to admit, I was a little skeptical at first. When I first got out of the shower, My hair didn’t seem that conditioned, and I was worried that my tangle-prone hair would turn in to a rat’s nest immediately. But it didn’t! My hair was fairly detangled and didn’t feel too dry or stripped. I also felt like my hair was more voluminous and swishy throughout the day.

The Cons

  • I always seem to run out of conditioner before shampoo, so the fact that this duo comes with less conditioner than shampoo is kind of annoying. I’m not the only one who uses more conditioner than shampoo (see here), so I wish the bottles had at least been the same size. I know for a fact that I’m going to run out of the conditioner waaaay before the shampoo is gone.
  • Along those same lines, this duo doesn’t work with other products. By that I mean I can’t use a Pantene conditioner first, follow it with the Tresemme shampoo, and have the same results. So if I use one of these products, I have to use the other. That may prove tricky during the weeks after I’ve used up all the conditioner…

Final Thoughts

I’ve been using this duo for about a month now, off and on, and I’ve been really happy with the results. Since its focus is on really cleansing the hair and reducing buildup, I’m not sure this would be great for those with dry or color-treated hair. I think it would work best on those with fine hair, especially those whose hair gets greasy easily. I haven’t tried the other products in the range (there’s also a maximizer, a mousse, and a hairspray), but I’m definitely interested!
