Before I fell headfirst into the blogging world, I really didn’t have that much makeup. As the months went by, I soaked up all the beauty recommendations I could and my wallet grew much lighter. Even today, years later, I still find myself admiring a blogger’s style or look and wanting to copy her! And I’m totally 100% ok with that. That’s how this whole beauty blogging world works, after all.
One blogger that I (and like every other human on the planet) am girlcrushing on is Julia from Gal Meets Glam. She and her husband are relationship goals, by the way, as is their amazing Charleston house! I really admire her simple, natural, and super chic makeup and hair go-tos, so I was thrilled when she posted about her beauty routine. She mentioned that her favorite mascara has been the Bobbi Brown Eye Opening Mascara. Of course, I ran out and bought it the next chance I got.
I’m just going to come right out with it- I still haven’t gotten the hang of this one. It has a super big, bristly brush. For me, that means that I get it all over my face when I apply it, and multiple layers means super clumpy lashes. I like a more natural look, and this mascara does not go for “natural.”
Another problem I found was that it seemed to flake off. No one likes mascara fallout in your eyeballs! It’s a very dry formula, which I’m not strictly against, but this seems to flake within a few hours. Hellooo raccoon eyes.
Maybe you get good tubes of this mascara and bad tubes, but at $30 a pop, I’m not going to try and figure it out. There are still a number of suggestions from Julia that I want to try, though! Just goes to show you- just because something looks amazing on a blogger, doesn’t mean it will look amazing on you. #HardLifeLessons
What product have you tried based on blogger suggestions?
I’ve tried way too many products based on blogger suggestions that I like to admit lol
I usually go for clothes, which works most of the time, besides with pants because I do enjoy fitness so I am a bit more muscular.
I’ve also tried mascaras, as you have, and found my favorite ever – Maybelline Lash Sensational. Lastly, I have tried many masks. Only few worked for me but, hey, those that did, are great!
P.S: How much I hate raccoon eyes, and how many mascaras unfortunately do this!
