I have been eyeing the whole capsule wardrobe idea (Anna is such an enabler) for quiiiite a while now, but I haven’t yet taken the plunge. However, some of the capsule wardrobe rules have sort of… trickled into my current wardrobe. For example, when I was taking stock of my summer shoe selection, I realized it was lacking. But instead of rushing off and buying a bunch of sandals that would each go with one outfit, I picked a good selection of sandals that would compliment multiple outfits. I’m pretty happy with my summer sandal wardrobe, so I thought I would share it with you! Caution: lots of foot photos ahead.
1. Brown sandals
This year, I really wanted some brown sandals, but I was pretty picky. I didn’t want a thong sandal, and I didn’t want a sandal with a heel piece that would give me blisters. Enter the Franco Sarto Genji sandal. These ticked all my boxes, and it took me about 10 seconds to decide that I wanted to buy them.
2. Black sandals
I love my brown sandals, but brown doesn’t go with everything. I do wear a lot of black (even in the summer… weird I know), so I kept my eyes peeled for another thong-free, back-free sandal, this time in black. I actually stumbled across these Strappy Huarache sandals at Old Navy by accident, but I’m so glad I did! These are so comfortable, and you can’t beat the price!
3. Gold flip-flops
I am usually vehemently against flip-flops. I can’t explain it, but before this summer, the last time I wore flip-flops was senior year of college accidentally because I left my shower shoes on to run to the store. This year, I thought I would give them another shot. Last summer, I wore my Merona Jana sandals erry. damn. day. They literally fell apart before I threw them away. I had them in gold, so I felt like they could go with any color- black, brown, navy, white, whatever. I wanted to pick up another gold pair of summer shoes, but I already had brown and black. I grabbed these Mossimo Olivia sandals at Target, and have actually gotten a fair amount of use out of them. Honestly, I still prefer my black or brown sandals, but I’m warmed up to the idea of flip-flops.
4. Navy Wedges
I’ve had these gorgeous Ralph Lauren wedges for a few summers now and I still love them as much today as the day I bought them. The straps are stretchy, and the wedge makes these the most comfortable summer sandal in the world. When summer rolls around, I wear a fair bit of navy, so these have gotten their fair share of wear this season!
5. The Extra
I tried on a pair of light blue, chunky heel sandals at DSW in the Spring, and I was gutted when I went back a few weeks later to buy them and they were gone. But then, I saw these beauties from Zara (which unfortunately are no longer in stock) and knew I had to have them. If you follow me on SnapChat (@katieactually), then you might remember my actual, physical squeal when I tried them on for the first time. I love these. So much.
I so pleased with the way my summer sandal wardrobe turned out, and knowing Alabama, I’ll get to wear them a bit longer before my toes start to freeze! What shoes have you been loving this summer?
xoxo Katie
